Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson said he wants to see a leg of the LIV Golf Tour played on our shores.
"We want a tournament in New Zealand, the golf there is under appreciated you would say there's so many beautiful golf courses and resorts," he told 1News.
Watson recently signed one of the country's top golfers, Ben Campbell, to his RangeGoats team, completing the roster of Peter Uihlein and Matthew Wolff.
Queenstown local Campbell recorded seven top 10 finishes on the Asian Tour in 2024 and was a reserve player in the LIV golf league.
Watson was full of praise for the 33-year-old, saying he was a "very good player" and, moreover, was a good person.
"We want characters on our team that are great people, the character of him is way better than the golfer and the golf is just a bonus so us it was a decision looking into everything. His golf speaks for itself but his character is what we truly loved about him.
Campbell said getting the call-up was a "dream come true".
"The last 24 hours, getting over here, getting the bag, playing with Bubba and the guys yesterday — its starting to feel real.
"To get the call from Bubba, it was coming into New Year, perfect way to start 2025."
The LIV Tour starts in Adelaide next month. Campbell will return to play in the New Zealand Open at Milbrook Resort from February 27.
