Black Caps thrash Sri Lanka in Hamilton to claim ODI series

New Zealand have won the second one-day international against Sri Lanka by 113 runs in a rain-reduced match in Hamilton tonight.

It means they have added the ODI series victory to their T20 series win against the tourists.

New Zealand scored 255 for 9 in their 37 overs with Rachin Ravindra top scoring with 79 runs off 63 deliveries, a knock that included nine fours and one six.

Ravindra was supported by Mark Chapman, who scored 62 off 52 balls. Both players brought up their half centuries with sixes.

The best of the Black Caps bowlers was Will O'Rourke who took 3 wickets for 31 runs.

The Black Caps, who were sent into bat, were on target for a massive score but Sri Lanka pulled it back in the final stages with the home side losing four wickets for four runs.

Kamindu Mendis was the best of the Sri Lankan batters, scoring 64 off 66 balls.

Only three other batters made it into double figures, however, and Sri Lanka were dismissed for 142 in the 31st over.

The final ODI of the series is at Eden Park on Saturday.
