Over the past two decades, Ireland has emerged as a major player in high-quality fragrances, but where do you find them and how do you choose the right scent for you?
According to Leonard, although Ireland doesn't have the correct climate for the full bouquet of scents needed for a bottle of perfume, it provides more than you would imagine - with lavander, seaweed, rosemary, and even gorse proving popular.

Nestled in the heart of Glandore, West Cork, Waters + Wild have created a "magnificent" rose and seaweed scent. Founded by Joan Woods, the brand delivers serums and perfumes that harvest natural ingredients to provide ethical scents. Much like fine wine, each batch of perfume is unique - each one a limited edition.
"For a theatre show last year, she made a fragrance that was based on peat, so based on bog," Leonard told Laura. "You smelled it and you felt like you were in a bog in Offaly. It was amazing; it really brought you to a place."
Woods will soon represent Ireland on the world's stage when she attends Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
The Burren Perfumery
The Burren Perfumery is a family-run company that is run at a small scale, with products being blended, bottled, polished and packed on site.
"What I love about the Burren Perfumery is that everything is made in small batches," says Daly, explaining that each batch of perfume will only produce 30 to 50 units at a time.
Not only that, but visitors are welcomed to visit the Clare perfumery to enjoy a walk around their Organic Herb Garden (planted in 1999) as well as their rose-covered tea rooms, and their perfume and blending rooms.

Have you ever wanted to smell like an Aran jumper? Well, look no further. Cloon Keen offers a uniquely Irish scent that Daly describes as "warm and homely and comfortable".
Handmade in Galway, the Báinín perfume takes its name from the homespun wool that's traditionally knitted through Aran jumpers and woven through the tweed of the collarless jackets worn for generations by Aran fishermen.

John and Clara Molloy, a husband and wife team from Tipperary, created a range of unisex leather perfumes. Irish Leather Eau de Parfum is described as a fragrance inspired by "frosty pungent mornings".
"It just smells expensive," says Daly, who notes that the price point comes in higher than the others. "You'll smell like a fancy library in a really beautiful place."
When Laura suggests that it can be saved for special occasions, Daly argues that "every day is a special occasion".
"I don't believe in that," he continues. "I think you should just smell how you want to smell every day".

Based in Dublin's Stoneybatter, this environmentally-minded skincare company offers a range of oils, creams, balms and lotions.
"They make oils rather than eau de parfum," Daly says, explaining that you simply have to use their applicator to roll a little oil onto your skin to enjoy the fragrance for hours.
"It's really beautiful and it's really fresh, it's not heady or heavy - it's a great, every day, light scent."
Madigan Cashmere
Sitting in studio, Leonard told Laura that he had opted to wear Madigan Rose 27 from the Irish cashmere Madigan Cashmere. Originally made to make the shops smell enticing, the scent was developed for customers following popular demand.
A fresh, floral scent designed in collaboration with a French "Nose" (perfumer) as an ode to beautiful things.
